The broken link to the forum has now been fixed.
Sorry...I've known about it for ages but just kept forgetting to fix it as I
always just found my own way there without the link. Anyway...this was due to
Farty changing the forums address without bothering to tell me about it. :-P

Having finally swapped over to XP, I decided
to also upgrade my hardware abit. This includes a new P4 3.0 ghz cpu and A-bit
MB with DDR400 ram. I decided to go with the onboard lan card instead of sticking
with my age-ing PCI ethernet. This resulted in a change of ip once again. I
have again kept the Den offline whilst securing my ip...and so all being well,
this is my final ip address:- 82.37.27.238:27910
at least for some time....
Now you watch it change again tonight LOL.
Mart.

After posting the last ip, I lost it the next
day. I did'nt wanna bother posting the next ip incase I lost it again. So I
decided to keep the Den offline untill I had established a more 'static' ip.
Well the ip I've had since has been good for the last five days...and so here
it is:-82.36.245.38:27910.
I'll be running the Den again as from tonight.

After installing XP, I forgot to protect my ip
with keepmyip.,and
the inevitable happened.
Ah well, I've had the same ip for over a year now(16 months infact), so it was
due a change. Anyway...please note new ip is:-62.30.74.142:27910.
It is possible that this may change over the next few days/weeks, so please
keep an eye out for this.
Mart.

As most of you will already know by now, BoolZ[1001]
has decided to close his forum due to a lack of interest from a dying quake2
community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank BoolZ[1001] for all
his efforts over the past 18 months for everything he has done to try to give
the regulars at The Den, an opportunity to be heard.
BoolZ first appeared at The Den about six months after it first started back
in November 2001 and soon found himself promoted to admin and first official
member of '[1001]' and has been a great Ambassador for The Den ever since. Cheers
m8...you're a star.
Mart.

It's just at an experimental staged, but typing
votelist into the console will now bring up a list of all the maps that are
vote-able at the Den. So next time you wanna vote a map but can't remember if
it was gr_dm6 or gr1_dm6...just type votelist to check :-)
This feature has been requested by numerous players and so I hope it helps.
For those that are interested, this is a modification to my q2admin code and
not to DM[1001]mod.
Mart.

Well we had a great turnout tonight. I joined
the server at about 9pm and left at 1:20am. Everybody turned up and even a few
old players including Tartjagger and BoolZ were there. The Den was packed out
all night and I'm sure a few connecting players had the 'server is full' message
:)
Thanks for turning up lads and making the servers 5th birthday, the best yet.
I had a blast. ;-)

Five years old today. Wow...Have to admit, when
I first started the Den all those years ago...I would'nt have thought it would
still be running 5 years later. I feel sad now as I sit here and remember some
of the players that I've seen come and go over the years. I remember a player
called Target from Amsterdam I think it was. Anyway...He was a student and had
a very basic machine with no money to spend on it. Killer1 from USA was good
enough to offer him his old GFX card for free...he mailed it to him. I remember
Target came onto the Den and said he was having problems getting it to fit.
He asked if it would be ok if he cut some of the connecting pins off it to make
it fit. I told him no...he said ok he'll have another look. He said 'I'll be
back in abit'.......sure enough, we never saw him again. Was really funny at
the time but, I'd love to know what he's up to now cause it's pretty obvious
he blew his system up and so, I'm sure he is still alive and well...but in Quake2
online player terms....he died :(
Also I still have fond memories of Mingingarsewipe and Smirk and how they used
to wind BuZz up PMSL. Ming was a clever fecker and I remember the once, he put
a trace on BuZz's ip and followed him from server to server...drove him mad
and scared the shit outta him ROFL. BuZz didnt have much respect for fellow
players, but he knew not to fuck with Ming :).......Grandp@ you old bugger...where
the hell are ya ? LOL
Anyway...enough of that, on with the new map...and here it is:-gr_high
Would like to put out a big thx to Jobe who helped me test the map, and had
a big influence on how some of the map turned out...mainly the indoor section.
I worked really hard on this map, the rocky terrain took weeks to complete...brush
by brush...triangle by triangle. I created the skybox myself using the excellent
Terragen
Ok...that's it for now....hope you like...
Mart.

Ok here it is. You can either d-load everything
from the server, or click here to download the
full map.
Everything has been zipped into baseq2 so once d-loaded, unzip the entire contents
to Quake2...ie C:Quake2
You'll be prompted that baseq2 does already exist...just click 'yes to all'.
The map currently runs after q2dm8(warehouse) but can be voted for at anytime
with 'vote gamemap gr_st1'
Note, thats gr_st ONE and not gr_st L.
Mart.
